Experience the thrill of viewing the Big 5 wildlife on a half-day safari at Schotia Safaris, the oldest private game reserve in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. Located on the eastern border of Addo Elephant National Park, this malaria-free reserve is known for its dense animal populations and excellent game viewing year-round.

Begin with a short 45-minute drive to Schotia or meet us at Schotia Safaris, where you will explore the reserve in an open 4×4 safari vehicle, guided by an experienced local guide. In the morning, venture into the wilderness to search for the Big 5—Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino, Lion, and Leopard—among a diverse array of other species. Schotia was the first reserve in the Cape Province to have free-roaming lions, so sightings are almost guaranteed on every game drive.

Beyond the Big 5, keep your eyes peeled for Hippos, Crocodiles, numerous antelope species, and a variety of other wildlife that make this reserve a true paradise for nature lovers. This half-day safari offers a powerful and immersive wildlife experience in one of South Africa’s most renowned private reserves.

WeatherNo weather restrictions WARNING!!!! When participating in an open 4x4 safari, it's important to be prepared for a range of weather conditions, including wind, cold, heat, dust, rain, and bumpy roads. Although we strive to ensure your comfort, certain aspects remain beyond our control. Transfers also occur in these open vehicles. All open 4x4 safari vehicle's have canvas side covers that will be closed during transfer for a more comfortable ride. Guests need to dress appropriately for the anticipated weather conditions to ensure a comfortable experience during the safari. This policy indicates that during a safari, in the event of bad weather, such as heavy rain, the tour will continue as long as at least one participant wishes to proceed. To end the safari early and return, all participants must collectively agree to do so. Note that there won't be any refunds if the safari is cut short due to participant requests to cut safari short.
